Charles Anson CVO DL
Charles Anson CVO DL has served as Cubitt Consulting’s Vice Chairman for the last decade. He provides strategic and networking consultancy to a range of Cubitt Consulting’s clients, principally in the public affairs arena, to deliver national editorial coverage and board-level audience campaigns.
He served for 7 years as Press Secretary to HM The Queen and worked in the Downing Street Press Office for two Prime Ministers, James Callaghan and Margaret Thatcher. He is a past Director of Communications for three FTSE100 quoted companies, Kleinwort Benson, Grand Met and The Hilton Group. Previously he was in the British Diplomatic Service which included serving as Deputy head of the FCO department coordinating counter-terrorism policy. He served in the British Embassy in Tehran before and during the Iranian Revolution, in the British Embassy in Washington (twice) and as Head of Communications for the European Broadcasting Union.
Charles is a graduate of Cambridge University, and is a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. He is a trustee of various NGOs and a past interim Director of Communications for the British Red Cross. He was recently Chairman of the South Downs Joint Committee which helped to set up the UK's latest National Park in the South Downs.
In March 2012 he was appointed a public (lay) member of the Press Complaints Commission.
